Felix Dux

I took up composing in 2015 as a way of understanding music better from the inside. I have always loved music, but working on my own compositions has deepened and broadened my appreciation of all genres.

Style

The style is mostly classical, in the sense that I usually employ forms, scales and harmonies familiar from the works of Western composers in the 18th and 19th centuries. There are exceptions, where I have moved into less classical tonal and harmonic territory, but the structures are still fairly classical.

The Pieces

My instrument is the piano, and most of compositions are for that instrument. In the works for other forces, I have usually had particular performers in mind — all of them, like me, non-professional.

I have tried, in all cases, to produce music that would be an enjoyable challenge for a reasonably proficient amateur — technically stretching without being overly demanding, musically interesting and satisfying both for the performers and the listener.
